Silence after an interview feels personal. Most of the time, it is not.

The Interview-to-Offer Playbook helps you get ready for the next interview so you are not stuck waiting on just one: 500 questions, a STAR story workbook, a salary playbook and a hiring manager psychology guide, so you can walk into interviews with confidence, turn more interviews into job offers, and negotiate the salary you deserve.

In the 2026 Resume Genius survey, 44% of job seekers named getting no response after an interview as a top frustration. Long delays between interview stages bothered 37% of them. If you are waiting, you are in very large company.

Hiring is slow right now. Teams wait on budget approval, other candidates or internal decisions, and nobody remembers to tell the people waiting.

What to do, step by step

Day 0 to 1: Send a short thank-you email if you have not already.

Day 5 to 7: If you have not heard back and were not given a timeline, send one polite follow-up.

❝

Subject: Following up on [Role] interview

Hi [Name],

Thank you again for speaking with me on [day]. I enjoyed learning more about [something specific], and I'm still very interested in the role.

I wanted to check whether there is an update on the timeline. Happy to share anything else that would be useful.

Best,
[Your name]

One week after that: Send one more short note, or connect with the hiring manager on LinkedIn. Then stop. Two follow-ups is plenty.

The most important step

Keep applying and keep interviewing. The candidates who handle waiting best are the ones who never put all their hope on one job. Another interview on the calendar changes how the waiting feels, and it improves your leverage if an offer does come.

If you want to be ready for the next one, the Playbook gives you the questions to practice, the stories to prepare and the salary conversation to plan for.
